Cartier Calibre Diver

RM50,500.00

The machinery inside a watch that keeps things ticking is called the movement or a calibre. A synonym of size, the word ‘calibre’, first used as a watchmaking term in 1715, originally referred to the build of a watch movement—the layout, dimensions, shape and size of the wheels, barrels, bridges and so on. Today the word is a substitute for movement, the complete mechanism with the mainspring, escape wheel, bridges, gear train, and other components, including the rotor in automatic watches. Calibres are either mechanical or quartz-based. While the latter are powered mostly by a battery, the former can either be manual winding, or self-would by an oscillating mass or rotor.

ABOUT THE CARTIER CALIBRE DE CARTIER COLLECTION

ESSENCE

Cartier’s technical superiority is given testament to by the relatively new Calibre collection. Featuring Cartier’s in-house movement, the 1904 MC, watches from this collection have served to unanimously increase the standing the brand has in the eyes of watch collectors and aficionados. Marking the transition of Cartier from a predominantly ornamental brand to one capable of high-tech marvels, the Calibre de Cartier is a glorious range of watches, incorporating three versions- the traditional Calibre, the Calibre Diver, and the Calibre Chronograph.

DESIGN

Timepieces from the Calibre collection have a masculine and sporty design with a case diameter of 42mm. The crown guard boasts an intricate interplay of brushed and polished portions that enhance the allure of the watch. The crown features Cartier’s traditional inlaid sapphire. The perfectly rounded case is available in steel, 18K rose gold, or two tones with a steel case and gold bezel. The dial is offered in complementary colours of black, silver, and brown, with luminescence filled hands that match the time indices. The time intervals are marked by Cartier’s traditional Roman numerals alternating with index markers, and room for framed subdials. With a stainless-steel, rubber, rose-gold, two-toned or leather strap, the watch displays a balanced interaction between simplicity and complexity.

FEATURES

Watches from the Calibre de Cartier uniformly operate on COSC chronometer certified mechanical movements. The Calibre and Calibre Diver sport expanded date windows and a subdial at the 6 o’clock position for seconds. The Chronograph has the date window at 6 o’clock and two subdials with hand indicators. The Calibre Diver sports a rotating ADLC steel timing bezel that has serrated edges for easy grip, and is water resistant up to 300m. The Calibre collection offers the zenith of Cartier’s legendary style and revolutionary technical skill.
